I moved apartments 10 days ago and my fiddle leaf fig has dropped 5 lower leaves since then. The new place has brighter morning light, but the plant was in a car for about 40 minutes and then sat near moving boxes for two days. The fallen leaves had some brown patches near the edges, but the stem is firm and the top leaves look okay. I watered after moving because the pot felt light. Now I am wondering if I shocked it and then made it worse. Do I just leave it alone or should I check roots?

If the stem is firm and the top growth looks okay, I would give it a stable spot and stop changing things for a few weeks. Moving is a lot of stress for fiddle leaf figs.

Do not unpot it unless you have a reason beyond anxiety. Root checks are useful when there is smell, mush, or continued decline. They are also another stress event.

The brighter morning light could be good long term, but acclimation still matters. If the leaves were used to dimmer light, pull it back slightly and let it adjust.

Lower leaves are often the first to go after a move. Clean them up, keep the watering boring, and do not fertilize right now.

Check for drafts from the new window or vents. My fig hated a heating vent more than it hated low light.

I moved mine once and it dropped leaves like it was filing a complaint. It stabilized after about three weeks when I stopped hovering. ## Care and Growing
